Xmachine Joins Shenzhen Government Service Center, Bringing Desktop 5-Axis Manufacturing to the Public
Shenzhen company Xhorse3D designed Xmachine that is among the first desktop 5-axis CNC systems that have incorporated AI into the computer-aided machining workflow. The CAM system powered by AI makes the transition from idea to the finished part much easier and is lighter on manual programming than the usual CNC processes. Traditionally, 5-axis CNC technology has been confined to factories, research laboratories, and workshops. However, Xmachine's advancement in technology is bringing this advanced manufacturing technology into the public domain so that more people can get acquainted with it.

Seven Years of Engineering Innovation
With a history spanning back to 2010, Xhorse took its first steps with 3-axis CNC machines and then devoted more than a decade to mastering motion control methods, mechanical engineering and precision production.
In 2019, the company began developing a desktop 5-axis CNC which is suitable for makers, educators and small workshops.Making a real desktop 5-axis machine required much more than just scaling down regular industrial machines. It required a full rethinking of the entire system and its components whereby mechanics, motion control and software had to be integrated.After seven years spent on developing the Xmachine, it went through seven versions before it finally reached the mass production stage, with improvements created by its own engineering team.
Currently, over 90% of the machine’s key components are manufactured in-house including encoders, precision servo motors, motor drivers, spindle, direct drive rotary table. In addition, Xhorse3D has a complete production system whereby design, machining, assembly, and testing are all done by the company using more than 90% of its own parts. This vertical integration provides better management of quality, functionality, and future product development.

Making 5-Axis Machining More Accessible
The Xmachine is designed to make professional CNC machining simple without sacrificing its ability. The machine comes equipped with a compact six-tool automatic tool changer that allows tool changes during machining to take place without any delays. It has a wireless touch probe that measures dimensions and positions of workpieces automatically so that setup time is significantly reduced while eliminating a large portion of manual adjustment which is required in traditional CNC systems. The machine can be used for processing various materials from stainless steel, aluminum, copper, wood, acrylic, jade, to fragile materials such as eggshells.
One of the biggest hurdles for 5-axis machining was CAM programming but the developers of the new machine addressed this issue with their XMaker intelligent CAM system that streamlines the workflow from idea generation to the final product.The user simply communicates the concept in natural language, and the application creates images of the concept with AI, makes 3D models, creates tool paths, and prepares the necessary job for Xmachine production. Even the existing STL files can be imported directly, and the tool paths will be generated automatically, minimizing the need for manual coding.
Xhorse 3D is combining AI with intelligent CAM software and making 5-axis professional manufacturing available even for designers, educators, makers, and creators with little background in CNC.
