Xmachine Showcases the Power of Al-Driven Desktop 5-Axis Manufacturing at the Alibaba Cloud Tongyi Al Hardware Expo

The Alibaba Cloud Tongyi AI Hardware Expo took place on January 8, 2026, at the Sea World Culture and Arts Center in Shenzhen. While at the expo, Xhorse3D was able to display its Xmachine XM-100 Desktop 5-Axis CNC Machining Center and Xscanner Handheld 3D Laser Scanner, which was covered by major media outlets including Wu Xiaobo (吴晓波), GeekPark (极客公园), 36Kr (36氪), Chapingjun (差评君), and Digital Intelligence Frontier (数智前线). The booth was also full of makers and engineers throughout the event.

Six Years of Independent Research and Development: A True Desktop 5-Axis Machine Built for Makers

As part of the expo, the Xhorse3D rep took to the stage to describe how the Xmachine was developed. The XM-100 is Xhorse3D’s own desktop 5-axis CNC machining center that was developed over a period of six years in the company’s R&D department. It is a committed exercise in self-development since it features everything in-house from the CNC control to servos to the optical encoders and in-house manufacturing to final assembly of the machine. Featuring a 5-axis desktop footprint, the XM-100 has a real 5-axis RTCP, automatic tool changing (ATC), automatic tool setting, and wireless probe. The machine can work on many materials including metal, wood, jade, and acrylic, making it a great tool for hobbyists, designers, and educators as well. At Xhorse3D, the mission is simple: to make the process of creating easier and bring manufacturing to everyone.

XMaker: AI-Powered CAM for Effortless 5-Axis Machining

XMaker, the AI-based CAM software offered by Xhorse3D, was another major highlight of the expo. Using XMaker, anyone can create a project that is ready for machining without any experience in CAD software or CNC programming. The user simply needs to describe the expected item in natural language, and XMaker will create a 3D model based on these specifications, configure it for the selected workpiece and stock material, create toolpaths, simulate the process of machining, and wirelessly transfer the project to Xmachine via Wi-Fi. This process goes as follows: a project conception in less than 5 minutes, and a finished prototype in under an hour. XMaker even allows the user to import STL files and automatically creates toolpaths to accommodate even more types of applications. Thus, instead of being just another CAM tool, XMaker clearly demonstrates how AI brings a revolution in the CNC sphere.

Xscanner 3D: From Scan to Machining—A Seamless Digital Workflow

Also displayed with Xmachine is the Xscanner 3D portable laser scanner. It has been developed for the speedy and precise collection of 3D data and allows the direct transfer of scanned models to the machining process, creating a complete digital chain from reverse engineering to physical production. Xscanner 3D and Xmachine thus create a comprehensive 3D scanning and CNC machining solution that provides users—engineers, makers, designers, and educators alike—with an easy and efficient manufacturing process. 5-axis industrial production technology has been brought down to the desktop level. The operation of a 5-axis desktop CNC machine has been made as easy as that of a 3D printer. A big thank you to our hosts and everyone who came to visit our stand at the event.
